My 16yr old son has been having spanish lessons with Maria for a few months. He is low needs autistic so socialising in his own English language can be challenging. What Maria has achieved in such a short time has been amazing. I have not only noticed an improvement in his spanish confidence but also an improvement in his overall communication skills. He loves his lessons with Maria. Every time I pick him up from a lesson he is smiling and happy. Maria organises lessons with other students of a similar age, which is fantastic for learning to socialise using a new language but also great for teenagers to be together, my son is homeschooled so spending time with another student is so beneficial. Maria is commited and organised, warm and friendly and makes something that could be difficult, fun and interesting. She tailored the curriculum and lessons to my specific needs. I wanted to learn basics and vocabulary, as well as grammar, but the priority was on speaking. Maria was excellent. She taught our high school age daughter 1:1 for two weeks several hours per day. Our daughter was with Maria to work on her Spanish fluency. Their time together was real life conversational Spanish; nothing in the classroom. Our daughter left with great confidence in the Spanish language, including short expressions. I have an A2 level and love speaking Spanish with Maria, deepening my grammar and, above all, understanding it, learning other tenses and, above all, simply practicing Spanish with her. I usually do it online, which works really well, but when I'm in Spain, we do it in person too. I look forward to learning Spanish with Maria every week. My husband is at the beginning stages of learning Spanish and I have some background in Spanish. In our individual lessons with Maria, she is able to adjust her level of instruction to each of us, helping us to learn at the right level and speed. She is highly organised, patient, professional and friendly. She is dedicated to you and wants you to succeed with your fluency and skills. She tailors lessons to your needs and abilities. My daughter is 18 and studying for her Leaving Certificate Spanish in Ireland next year and needed to improve her grammar, written, comprehension and speaking skills. Not only did she do this in the two week timeframe, she is definitely more confident and more motivated. She will continue her lessons online and plans to return to Javea for a more full immersion and in - person experience with Maria during the school holidays. It was so useful to have someone like Maria (Maritxu) to learn from. As a native English speaker, I was making a lot of mistakes by just translating something I typically say in English into Spanish. People usually understood me but I sounded odd and unnatural. She helped me identify those mistakes and gave me the proper phrasing for how people actually talk in Spain. While I won't "pass" anytime soon for a native speaker, at least I won't sound so odd! Por ejemplo, Puedo tener una cerveza? Native Spanish speakers don't say that. First of all the lessons are fun. The atmosphere is different than in a usual school class. The content was tailored to my needs. The lessons helped me to feel more comfortable among Spanish people because the lessons had lots of practical useful content.
